My aim is to engage the viewer; prompting them to think or perhaps appreciate the beauty and form around us.  By capturing the timeless fleeting moment in front of us, we can be there again.  
The most influential forces in my life have been the love of sea, sky and gardens. The art of gourmet cooking. This includes painting the ingredients as well, surely seems an infinite subject!
Through realism and meticulous techniques, I feel I can capture nature's slight nuances in light and dramatic color through layering.
That sea and sky influence; the use of blues and greens are so often used in
my work. Renaissance Art was a major influence on me, and is obvious in my earlier painting days. I enjoy being immersed in the details usually overlooked in our everyday views.

Classical realism; accomplished by building layers, depth and tones of light through contemporary expression, is shown in my more recent pastel paintings.
